There are so many wonderful benefits about investigating the paranormal. For us, one that stands out is the fact that once people know what you do, they are more than willing to help you to find more places to investigate. Such was the case for this particular investigation of a private residence. It was brought to the attention of Jay by a female postal worker whom he spoke to each day where he worked.
The house belongs to a friend of her brother. According to a person who attended the birthday party for the woman who owns the house, he was touched on the back twice by who he thought was his girlfriend. It turned out that no one was standing near him. To make a long story short, the house is apparently haunted and has been for some time.
Although not the first occupant of this house, this woman has owned it for 15 yrs. She also feels that she is in touch with the sixth sense most of us have. It was not just the homeowner that experienced paranormal phenomenon, but her kids, dog, and other members of the family.
Jay phoned her to set up a time to visit. At that time, he also went over our in-depth private residence questionnaire. The answers given indicated that her experiences were genuine and prompted further investigation. Our team arrived and we were given the tour of the home. We set up the video camera in the master bedroom, with one of the audio tape recorders in the basement and the other in the kitchen. We then broke off into groups of two and began exploring the house. Jay knew before we went in that the activity had subsided quite a bit as of late, but felt that it would still be a worth while experience for the team. We also took temperature and compass readings and, as always, paid close attention to our feelings. As well, we took pictures with 400ISO film whenever the urge struck.
After 45 minutes of having the video camera upstairs, we decided it would be good to set it up in the kitchen facing the living room. This was a part of the house where an orb was photographed moving. Jay also thought it would be a good idea if we all went for a walk to see if any thing would show itself while the house was empty.
We came back and found the batteries on the camera almost fully discharged. We replaced the battery, then placed the camera on the stairs facing a downstairs room where some activity had been reported. We then sat upstairs with the owner, her son and boyfriend and talked. After an hour we left. At our monthly meeting we reviewed the photos as well as the video taken.
The basic feeling was one of a quiet house. Not too much activity. However, we felt something was there. The owners bedroom was the only area where the team members felt some form of energy, possibly a presence. Our pictures, video, and audio recorded nothing. There were no abnormal compass readings nor anything on the EMF detector. We feel the house has a presence, but that it did not want to be seen that night.
